Hospital
The hospital wing of Aranui caters for 29 clients. It is designed for those residents who need help with all aspects of daily living - eating, mobility and toileting.
A registered nurse is on-site 24 hours a day and a doctor who visits twice weekly is always on-call. The nursing staff work in pairs to ensure a high level of service to patients.
High staff-resident ratios and a call-bell system in every room ensure that no resident is without help at any time.
The hospital has its own lounge and a separate dining room. There is also specially designed equipment for lifting people and special pressure-relief chairs. In addition, most bedrooms have a pressure-relief mattress.
The hospital bedrooms are slightly larger than those in the rest home so that in the event special equipment is needed, it can be easily wheeled in.
The activity programme for hospital residents differs from that offered to rest home clients. It is more sensory-based and designed for those who are less mobile.
